Beijing gradually resumed direct international flights to the city from September 3, allowing international flights to bring in passengers from 8 countries. So far, only a total of 4-5 flights are allowed in a single day, controlling the number of passengers entering the city to around 1000 people per day. If a flight brings in a total of 5 passengers infected with Covid-19, this will trigger a circuit breaker situation.
Xu Hejian—a spokesman for the Beijing municipal government— said that Beijing has gradually resumed direct flights with Cambodia, Greece, Denmark, Thailand, Pakistan, Austria, Canada and Sweden. A total of nine airways companies from these countries have resumed direct flights as planned. As of September 18, 16 direct international flights had landed at the capital airport, carrying 2615 passengers.
To ensure the pandemic measures are thoroughly followed, all inbound passengers must complete customs inspection, covid-19 testing and medical investigation at a specialized area in the capital airport.
New Measures for Quarantine
The country has adopted a 7+7 & 2+1 policy for international arrivals. This is how it works:
7 + 7 Quarantine
- 7 days at a designated facility
- 7 days at home
2 + 1 Nucleic Acid Test
- 2 mandatory nucleic acid tests taken at the first day and 5th day of quarantine.
-1 voluntary nucleic acid test taken at the 14th day.
